About Our Shows
Vodka Tonic Media is not a full time concert promoter. What we have done is hosted shows for a few of our favorite local and touring bands as well as promote a weekly and monthly event called GIMME DANGER from 2005 to 2007. Most of our events took place at the world famous Hollywood Alley in Mesa, AZ. GIMME DANGER (R.I.P.)
GIMME DANGER started as a weekly Tuesday event at The Hollywood Alley in Mesa. It first occurred between July and October 2005. Each week featured a guest DJ and two bands (1 local and 1 touring). The genres of music ranged between 60s garage, contemporary garage, street punk, indie rock, synthpunk, glam rock and whatever else kept the hips swinging. The main purpose was to breathe more life into an already vibrant weeknight schedule at the Alley and to showcase both local and touring talent within the aforementioned genres. We had a popular vodka tonic drink special and each GIMME DANGER event had plenty of eye candy on the 20+ Hollywood Alley televisions (cult classics, indie short films, etc). In September 2005, Hollywood Alley received The Phoenix New Times Best Music on a School Night award and we were cited as one of the main reasons. . Sadly, Vodka Tonic Media had to eventually put GIMME DANGER on hold to focus on other promotional efforts they were involved in.
In January 2007, we brought GIMME DANGER back. We expanded the line-up for each event, holding them on the third weekend of every month starting at Hollywood Alley. Our mission was to establish the GIMME DANGER series of parties as true celebrations of rocknroll sub-culture. We brought back the vodka tonic drink specials plus plenty of live music and great spins from our guest DJs. The series went five strong, but was given it's final R.I.P. due to the oversaturation of rock'n'roll theme nights in Phoenix.
