WHAT'S IT ABOUT?

VODKA TONIC RADIO is a 24/7 streaming Internet radio station that was created by a club DJ in Arizona (Vil Vodka) in June of 2000. It's initial purpose was to showcase the same music Vil Vodka was spinning at the Phoenix night spots he resided (Cannery Row in 2000, The Blue Ox in 2001-02), as well as coincide with his pre-recorded real-audio programs from his former web-zine, MADPEN.com. Originally titled "Trash Palace", the station would play "the best mix of dangerous rock 'n roll from the past century"; defined as garage rock (60's and contemporary) mixed with some of the lost classics of the punk, new wave, glam, goth, alternative, rockabilly, psychedelic, & power-pop genres with it's many sub-genres and eras included. Trash Palace would also showcase many artists from the Phoenix area (Sonic Thrills, Beat Angels, Slash City Daggers, Jeff Dahl, The Impossibles... just to name a few) while showcasing other international hot spots like the emerging Scandinavian Rock Explosion of the late 90s. At a time when commercial alternative radio wouldn't touch garage rock or new wave, Vil took pride in a station that played music either long forgotten or nowhere near the corporate radar.

In November 2004, Trash Palace officially changed it's name to VODKA TONIC RADIO to coincide with Vil Vodka's new record label Vodka Tonic Media. While still sticking with the same format and keeping with many favorites from the Trash Palace days, VTR will also focus heavily on showcasing artists signed to the Vodka Tonic label. We will also feature the music that inspire the Vodka Tonic artists.

The station has recently upgraded to make room for a higher quality streams and a larger playlist.  The upgrade also enabled us to offer our station's stream to anyone, free of charge. Future plans includes interviews of some of the hottest independent rock n' roll bands, plus many people on the non-performance level that help make the scene happen. Look out for many new scheduled programs on Vodka Tonic Radio, including RAWK!, Lovesick Lounge, and WAVECRASH!.
